CNC Lathe Machinist (1st & 2nd Shift)
Location: East Hartford, CT
Compensation: $25–$36/hour (based on experience)
Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate CNC turning and multi-axis lathe equipment to produce high-precision components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong setup experience and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes (2-axis and multi-axis)

  • Interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and work instructions to machine precision parts

  • Perform complex setups, including tooling selection, program adjustments, and machine calibration

  • Edit CNC programs as needed to optimize performance and quality

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments

  • Ensure all parts meet strict quality standards and specifications

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments

  • Replace worn or damaged tooling and maintain equipment

  • Record production data, including part counts and scrap

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Assist in training and supporting other machinists as needed


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)

  • Minimum 3+ years of CNC setup experience (lathe)

  • Experience with Fanuc and/or Okuma controls required

  • Ability to read blueprints, CNC programs, and technical documentation

  • Strong understanding of machining principles and inspection techniques

  • Experience in aerospace or close-tolerance manufacturing preferred

  • Familiarity with SPC and quality documentation is a plus

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills


Compensation

  • $25–$32/hour for 2–6 years of experience

  • $32–$36/hour for 6+ years of experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
