Production Planner  – Manufacturing / Supply Chain
Greater Hartford, CT
Full-Time | On-Site

We are working with a well-established, growing manufacturing organization in the Greater Hartford area seeking a Production Planner to support demand planning, production scheduling, and S&OP alignment. This is a highly visible role working cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain leadership.

Position Overview

The Production Planner will play a key role in aligning demand forecasts with production capabilities, ensuring efficient operations and high service levels. This individual will be heavily involved in forecasting, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives within a structured manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Planning & Forecasting

  • Support development of short-, mid-, and long-term demand forecasts

  • Analyze forecast vs. actuals and recommend corrective actions

  • Partner with sales to gather inputs and improve forecast accuracy

  • Participate in S&OP cycles, business reviews, and planning meetings

Production Planning & S&OP Execution

  • Translate demand forecasts into achievable production plans

  • Monitor capacity, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions

  • Issue and manage master production schedules across business units

  • Track production progress and resolve planning-related issues

Process Optimization & Data Management

  • Maintain and update ERP/MRP planning parameters, BOMs, and technical data

  • Support integration between demand planning and operational capabilities

  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to support decision-making

KPI Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track key metrics including forecast accuracy, service levels, and capacity utilization

  • Prepare reports and support leadership with performance analysis and improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Economics, or related field

  • 2–3+ years of experience in production planning, demand planning, or supply chain roles within manufacturing

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JDA, Business Central, etc.)

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with planning tools/reporting systems

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor exposure

  • PPE required in designated areas (safety glasses, safety shoes)
