.Position Summary:
Essential Job Functions:
Production & Operations
• Lead and manage all production activities ensuring consistent performance and handover between crews.
• Achieve production targets related to output, efficiency, scrap, and on-time delivery.
• Optimize press utilization, cycle times, and labor allocation for high-volume tote production.
• Coordinate production scheduling and sequencing to meet customer demand while minimizing WIP and downtime.
• Support mold changes and setups, ensuring adherence to standardized processes and SMED principles.
Safety & Compliance
• Champion a strong safety culture across all shifts, ensuring compliance with PPE, LOTO, and safety procedures.
• Ensure product quality meets internal standards and customer expectations for storage tote products.
• Partner with Quality to maintain process control, reduce defects, and investigate non-conformances.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
• Lead and facilitate Kaizen events focused on safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
• Support Lean Manufacturing tools implementation including SMED, 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and 3M analysis (Muda, Mura, Muri).
• Analyze Uptime, Efficiency, OEE, downtime, scrap, and changeover data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Coach supervisors and team leads on problem-solving methods such as root cause analysis, A3, and 8D.
Leadership & Workforce Development
• Directly lead production supervisors and indirectly lead operators, setup technicians, and material handlers.
• Build strong engagement and accountability across a diverse workforce operating 24/7.
• Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development planning.
• Ensure effective communication and shift-to-shift handovers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Maintenance, Process, Tooling to support preventive maintenance and mold readiness.
• Partner with Engineering on process improvements, new mold launches, and equipment upgrades.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain on material availability, inventory control, and cost reduction initiatives.
Qualifications:
Experience & Technical Skills
- 5+ years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing.
Minimum 2 years in a production leadership role
- Proven experience in a Plant Manager, Production Manager, or similar senior manufacturing leadership role.
- Proficiency with computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, TEAMS) and manufacturing systems such as ERP/MRP/MES systems such as Netsuite, SAP, BEAS/BEAR, or comparable production management tools.
- Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish (spoken and written).
- Strong knowledge of high-volume injection molding operations and automation.
- Demonstrated experience leading Kaizen events and implementing Lean Manufacturing tools.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Language
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
