Job Opportunity: Corporate Controller (Finance and Accounting Leader)
Location: Burlington, MA (Hybrid – 4 days in-office / 1 day remote)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-impact Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a premier, private equity-backed consumer products organization. This critical leadership role serves as a strategic partner to the CFO and PE sponsors, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting, robust internal controls, and disciplined working capital management. You will be instrumental in driving value creation, supporting M&A integrations, and preparing the organization for a future liquidity event.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Operational Excellence
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on speed, accuracy, and transparency.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and reporting packages for executive leadership and PE board members.
- Ensure strict adherence to GAAP, specifically regarding revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and accruals.
- Support EBITDA quality initiatives and manage non-recurring add-back items.
Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting
- Oversee cost accounting for manufacturing and co-manufacturing operations, including standard costing and variance analysis.
- Manage inventory valuation, reserves, and physical counts across multiple warehouses and 3PL partners.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to optimize gross margin accuracy and SKU profitability.
Controls, Compliance & Audit
- Design and scale internal controls suitable for a high-growth, leveraged environment.
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, lenders, and tax advisors.
- Manage debt covenant compliance and lead audit readiness for diligence or lender examinations.
Systems & Scalability
- Optimize ERP performance and accounting workflows to support increased volume.
- Drive automation to enhance scalability without proportional headcount growth.
- Establish formal accounting policies to support exit readiness (IPO/Sale).
Cash Management & Leadership
- Support cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
- Partner with FP&A on working capital initiatives, including AR/AP and inventory turns.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
Technical Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership roles.
- Background: Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or National firm) is highly preferred.
- Industry: Must have experience in Consumer Products (CPG), Manufacturing, or Distribution.
- PE Exposure: Proven experience in private equity-backed, high-growth, or highly leveraged organizations.
Key Competencies:
- Expertise in GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management.
- Experience supporting M&A integrations and exit preparation (Sale or IPO).
- Proficiency in lender reporting and covenant compliance.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence executives and board members.
- A “bias for action” mindset, comfortable operating within lean teams and aggressive timelines.
