Description:    
Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in calculating, processing, posting, verifying, and maintaining data and payments to accounts payable and receivable records by performing the following duties.
        
            Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees accounts payable and receivable operations.
  • Trains, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of staff.
  • Analyzes major accounts and prepares monthly reconciliation of subsidiary accounts to general ledger.
  • Manage top 25 – 50 key customer’s credit and collections as assigned by ownership.
  • Develops and implements record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures related to billing, processing payments, and other accounts payable and receivable activities.
  • Develops and pursues collection strategies.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies and suggests appropriate corrective action.
  • Communicates and coordinates accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, reporting agencies, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and adherence to work schedules

            Supervisory Responsibilities:            
Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:        
Accounting degree or equivalent years’ experience necessary.  Previous proven supervisory experience especially in job analysis, coaching, and documentation and discipline.  Previous experience within distribution setting very helpful.

Computer Skills:         
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate experience in integrated inventory systems, basic PC skills to include spreadsheet, word processing software, e-mail and Internet.
