Cost Accountant (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Location:
Newington, CT (On-Site)

Compensation:
$100,000 – $110,000 base + 8% bonus


Overview:
A leading aerospace manufacturing organization is seeking a Cost Accountant to support complex, high-precision production programs. This role will play a critical part in job costing, inventory accuracy, and financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.

This is a highly visible position partnering with operations, engineering, and leadership to drive cost efficiency and improve overall financial performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead job costing analysis across multiple manufacturing programs
  • Oversee and support physical inventory processes, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy
  • Develop and maintain part-level budgeting and cost models
  • Analyze variances between standard and actual costs; identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Conduct financial analysis tied to production, materials, and labor utilization
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams
  • Assist with audits, internal controls, and process improvements
  • Drive initiatives to improve costing accuracy and streamline financial processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5–8+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience strongly preferred
  • Strong background in job costing, inventory, and standard costing
  • Experience with physical inventory and cost analysis in a production setting
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
