Hiring for a Medical Assistant for an OB/GYN and Primary Care clinic in Vero Beach, FL
Pay: $20-22/hr (based on experience)
Schedule: 4 x 10’s (will float to Fort Pierce as needed)
Hours will be 7:30am-6pm (M-Thursday); 7:15-6pm hours (Friday). Which 4 days you are working will be provided with advance notice
At least 6 months of recent MA experience required. MA certificate or diploma is required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assesses data appropriate to the age-specific needs of patients in their assigned department and/or unit
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required
- Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
- CMA is highly preferred
- Experience working in GYN is a plus
Responsibilities
- Performs patient care under the direction of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting
- Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues
- Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities
- Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members
- Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff
- Gathers patient data through interview and observation
- Assists patients and families with preparation for examination
- Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures
- Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice
- Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types
- Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to department-specific policies
- Assists the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provides scheduling information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation
- Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment
- Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under the direction of a provider
- Consistently demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adheres to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies
- Practices efficient use of supplies
- Assists the business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients
