A leading academic healthcare organization in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced nursing leader to oversee Hematology/Oncology operations and clinical nursing practice within a high-acuity environment. This individual will partner closely with interdisciplinary leadership to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, operational excellence, and adherence to clinical standards.

Position Summary

Reporting to senior nursing leadership, the Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational oversight for professional nursing practice within Hematology/Oncology services. This role is responsible for advancing patient care standards, supporting clinical excellence initiatives, and leading nursing operations across the department.

The Director will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to improve care delivery, drive quality initiatives, monitor outcomes, and support staff development and engagement. This leader will also play a key role in performance improvement efforts, regulatory readiness, and implementation of new clinical programs and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for nursing operations within Hematology/Oncology
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and optimal clinical outcomes
• Develop, implement, and maintain nursing standards, policies, and clinical practice guidelines
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams to improve care coordination and operational efficiency
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics
• Support staff development, education, mentorship, and performance management
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement operational strategies
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Massachusetts RN license required
• BSN required; Master’s degree preferred
• Recent Hematology/Oncology leadership experience required
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience within an acute care or complex healthcare setting
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with performance improvement, staff development, and clinical operations

Preferred Background

• Experience within academic medical centers or large health systems
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive operational change
• Strong understanding of healthcare systems, quality initiatives, and patient care standards
