Physician Assistant – Surgical Specialty (Outpatient)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Schedule

A growing specialty surgical practice affiliated with a major academic healthcare system is seeking a Physician Assistant to join its outpatient team. This is a primarily clinic-based, non-procedural role focused on patient evaluation, care coordination, pre-operative assessment, and post-operative follow-up.

The position offers a consistent weekday schedule with no operating room responsibilities and is ideal for a PA who enjoys patient interaction, continuity of care, and working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Candidates with 1–5 years of Physician Assistant experience are encouraged to apply. Experience in related areas such as general surgery, GI/gastroenterology, hepatology, oncology, transplant, or other medical/surgical specialties is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments, history taking, and physical examinations
  • Review medical records, diagnostic studies, imaging, and laboratory results
  • Manage pre-operative evaluations and patient optimization
  • Provide post-operative follow-up care and patient education
  • Coordinate treatment plans and referrals with physicians and specialty teams
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as appropriate
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, families, and referring providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the EMR
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care discussions and team collaboration

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current New York State PA license
  • NCCPA certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • DEA certification required
  • 1–5 years of PA experience preferred

Preferred Background

  • Experience in outpatient surgical or medical specialty settings
  • Familiarity with EPIC or other EMR platforms
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with physicians and clinical staff
