Quality Control Manager / Lead Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager or Lead Inspector to oversee quality operations within a precision machine shop environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing inspections, leading quality initiatives, and ensuring products meet customer, industry, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day quality control operations within the machine shop
  • Perform hands-on inspections of incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products
  • Utilize precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Develop and maintain inspection procedures, quality standards, and inspection plans
  • Train and mentor inspection and quality personnel on best practices and inspection techniques
  • Manage workflow, priorities, and quality team performance
  • Prepare and support First Article Inspections (FAIs)
  • Review inspection and production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming materials
  • Partner closely with production and engineering teams to improve quality, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, audits, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, AS9100 standards, and applicable regulations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T, and inspection methods
  • Experience using CMMs and precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leading or mentoring quality or inspection teams
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or quality management software
  • Aerospace or high-precision manufacturing experience is a plus
